Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and members of TAWA had a brief introductory meeting in August 8th, 2011. The Congresswoman currently represents the state’s 30th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. After introducing our organization and describing our activities, TAWA members requested her presence as a guest speaker in the third Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner on September 17th which she agreed. The Congresswoman leads programs such as the Youth Summit and Diversity Program, and A World of Women for the World Peace Conference. The Congresswoman, similar to TAWA’s mission, stresses the importance of women in world peace. She brings attention to women who are victim of war around the world. In the “A World of Women for the World Peace” conference, the Congresswoman hosts women from all over the world who are leaders in peacemaking activities. TAWA is very honored that the Congresswoman will speak to this topic in the third Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner.
